WHEN COMMENTS TONIGHT ARE IN RESPONSE TO THE FACILITIES ADVISORY COMMITTEES RECOMMENDATIONS WHICH WERE DELIVERED TO THE SCHOOL BOARD LAST MONTH AND WILL BE ACTED UPON TONIGHT.WE PREVIOUSLY EMAILED THE BOARD A MORE DETAILED VERSION OF THESE COMMENTS WHICH I WILL SUMMARIZE HERE. IN OCTOBER WE SUBMITTED CONCERNS TO THE FAC AND THEIR PROS RECOMMENDATIONS TO ADDRESS A LONG-TERM FACILITY NEEDS OF THE DISTRICT.
FIRST OF ALL, WE TRULY WELCOME THE FAC RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE CHOICE SCHOOLS IN GENERAL.E SHARE THEIR CONCERNS REGARDING EQUITABLE ACCESS TO DISTRICT CHOICE PROGRAMS AND AGREE THIS IS A MUCH-NEEDED FOCUS FOR THE FUTURE.
THE A DS COMMUNITY IS VERY CONCERNED NO ONE IN THE FAC SPOKE WITH US TOGETHER DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT OUR SCHOOLS PROGRAMS OR CURRENT FACILITIES BEYOND THE BASICS.
ARE FIVE CLASSROOMS AND 144 STUDENTS, WHICH IS INCORRECTLY STATED AS 125 AND THAT REPORT. WE HAVE STRONG CONCERNS THE CURRENT RECOMMENDATION TO RELOCATE YOU AS TO THE CAMPUS DOES NOT CONSIDER MANY VITAL PLAYSPACE ASPECTS OF OUR SCHOOL WHICH WE WANT TO SHARE WITH THE BOARD YOUR FIRST OF ALL, IT IS A SIGNIFICANT STORAGE NEEDS AND WE ARE CONCERNED THESE HAVE NOT BEEN FACTORED INTO THE FACILITIES PLAN.
WE CURRENTLY HAVE A LARGE ADDITIONAL STORAGE ROOM LOCATED BENEATH THE KITCHEN WHERE EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF OUTDOOR EXCURSION GEAR, STEWARDSHIP TOOLS AND MATERIALS ARE STORED.
WE ALSO HAVE A 21 YOUR CONNECTION WITH SAMBERG AND THROW ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS VIA OUR COMMUNITY STEWARDSHIP

PROGRAM IN WHICH STUDENTS THIRD AND FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS FROM THE SCHOOLS WITH ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION LESSONS.WE ALSO HAVE STRONG CONNECTIONS TO OUR LOCAL PARKS FOR RESTAURANTS BEFORE RESTORATIVE WORK IN THE BIG FINN PARK, THE ONE NEEDED WOODLANDS AND DENNY PARK FOR EACH THESE PARTS OF STREAMS, WETLANDS AND NATIVE FORESTED NATURAL AREAS WHICH PROVIDE A WIDE VARIETY OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES AND LESSONS FOR OUR STUDENTS WHEN THEY CAN WALK TO THEM DUE TO THEIR SCHOOL. WOULD COME BACK INSIDE HAS ONLY TWO PARKS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF THESE PARKS ARE ESSENTIALLY LARGE GRASSY SPORTS FIELDS WITH TENNIS COURTS.
A MOVE WOULD REMOVE MANY OF THE EXISTING OPPORTUNITIES.
FINALLY THE GREENHOUSE WHICH IS BUILT USING MULTIPLE GRANTS OVER SEVERAL YEARS FOR TODAY WE HAVE OVER $40,000 INVESTED IN THE PERMIT STRUCTURE IT IS A VITAL COMPONENT OF OUR STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM IN WHICH STUDENTS GROW NORTHWEST NATIVE PLANTS FOR USE IN OUR HABITAT RESTORATION WORKS THROUGH THIS IS A PERMANENT STRUCTURE WITH LOOMING ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS IN A $5000 GALLON Ã5000 GALLON CISTERN WHICH IS NOT RELOCATABLE. IN SUMMARY, RELOCATING TO ANOTHER CAMPUS INVOLVES MUCH MORE THAN SHIFTING OUR STUDENTS TO FIVE CLASSROOMS IN A DIFFERENT BUILDING.AS HAS DEVELOPED AND UNIQUE CULTURE AND SCHOOL PROGRAMS INTIMATELY ENTWINED WITH OUR CURRENT LOCATION ON THE CAMPUS.

ALTHOUGH IT HAS BEEN DISHEARTENING TO LEARN OF THE FAC RECOMMENDATION TO MOVE OUR SCHOOL, WE WOULD LIKE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE INTENTION BEHIND THE RECOMMENDATION FOR TO RECOGNIZE MANY SCHOOLS HILL MIDDLE SCHOOL ARE AT OR OS- BEYOND STUDENT CAPACITY.
OUR INTENTION BEHIND COMMENTING IS TO HIGHLIGHT AS THE FAC HAS ALREADY DONE THAT CHOICE SCHOOLS ARE NOT EQUITABLY ACCESSIBLE TO ALL FAMILIES AT THIS TIME TO READ TWO ISSUES TRULY NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. CENTRALIZING CHOICE SCHOOLS IN THE DISTRICT AND FUNDING FOR THE TRANSPORTATION.

FOR INSTANCE, STILL IN ROSE HILL HAVE BUILT A STRONG PARTNERSHIP OVER THE LAST 20+ YEARS.UR STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO WIDE VARIETY OF SERVICES TO THE PARTNERSHIP INCLUDING COUNSELING, ELECTIVES, LIBRARY AND CAFETERIA ACCESS AND AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS. ANY MOVE OF A CHOICE SCHOOL TO A DIFFERENT NEIGHBORHOOD CAMPUS SHOULD BE THOUGHTFULLY CONSIDERED AND PLANNED OUT TO ENSURE A SMOOTH TRANSITION FOR ALL STUDENTS, FAMILIES AND STAFF OF THE TWO SCHOOLS. AS MANY FAMILIES HAVE EXPRESSED IN THE SUBMITTED COMMENTS DURING THE FAC OCTOBER COMMUNITY SURVEY, WOULD CONSIDER EXPANDING FROM 90 TO 180 STUDENTS OVER A THREE-YEAR PERIOD OF AN OPPORTUNITY WERE TO ARISE. AND SEEK TO CONTINUE TO IDENTIFY NORCAL CHOICE SCHOOLS CAN BE MORE EQUITABLY ACCESSIBLE TO ALL OWC FAMILIES WHILE MAINTAINING THE WELL-ESTABLISHED PARTNERSHIPS CHOICE SCHOOLS HAVE BUILT WITHIN THEIR COMMUNITIES. TO BE FORTHRIGHT, I WOULD LIKE MY CHILDREN AND WIFE TO BE AS SAFE AS YOU ARE KEEPING YOURSELVES.ECOND, NOT ONLY IS IT A HUGE RISK, BUT IS A DISRUPTION ALL STUDENTS LEARNING ROUTINES AND CONNECTIONS FROM THE CURRENT TIMELINE MY SECOND-GRADER MAY GET 75 SCHOOL DAYS OR LESS WHEN STUDENTS ARE BROUGHT BACK AND PERMITTED IS MY OPINION IS NOT WORTH HEALTH RISK AND IS DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE LOSS OF EDUCATION IN CONNECTION WITH TEACHERS THAT WORKED SO HARD TO CREATE THIS YEAR.HONESTLY OUR TEACHERS HAVE DONE INCREDIBLY.

WHICH IS CURRENTLY SUPPORTING 18 OF HER BLACK SCHOLARS.IN PROVIDING A PLACE FOR OUR MALE STUDENTS TO REALLY EXCEL. SO, THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE SCHOOL PERSPECTIVES ON WHAT, HOW WE ARE CONSTRAINED FROM BUILDING IN THOSE AREAS.
