AS HE WILL HEAR AND I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO SPEAK WITH MANY OF THEM THIS YEAR BECAUSE I DO HAVE A STUDENT WHO HIS HAVE TIME IN THE AFTERNOON DUE TO SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS. AND THEY ARE THERE AND THEY ARE WORKING AND THEY HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB WITH OUR SAFETY MAY ALLEGATIONS AND ALL THAT HAS COME WITH THAT.

WHEREAS EDUCATION SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS ARE INVOLVED IN NEARLY ASPECT INCLUDING MAINTAINING SCHOOL BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS, PROVIDING SECRETARIAL AND CLERICAL ASSISTANCE, PREPARING AND SERVING MEALS, PROVIDING SAFE TRANSPORTATION, KEEPING SCHOOL FACILITIES CLEAN AND ORDERLY, ASSISTING IN THE CLASSROOM, PROVIDING A SECURE AND HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT AND MANY OTHER SPECIAL ED SERVICES AND WHEREAS EDUCATION SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS ARE INSTRUMENTAL IN FULFILLING THE STATES RESPONSIBILITY TO EDUCATE ALL STUDENTS AND WHEREAS THESE DEDICATED INDIVIDUALS DIFFERENT SERVER CONNECTION AND THANKS FOR THE OUTSTANDING WORK THEY ARE DOING FOR THE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN LAKE WASHINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT. MY FAMILY IS SUPER PRIVILEGED. WE HAVE A HIGH INCOME, TO PARENTS AT HOME, ONE PARENT NOT WORKING FORGET WE HAVE NO HEALTH ISSUES, WE HAVE NO SPECIAL NEEDS.

SO WHY AM I HEAR? ONLINE SCHOOL IS STILL REALLY HARD FOR MY FAMILY.IT HAS BEEN REALLY, REALLY HARD.

THE MISSED SOCIAL CONNECTIONS WITH FRIENDS AND TEACHERS, TECH HURDLES, LACK OF MOTIVATION AND FOCUS AND IT HAS NEGATIVELY IMPACTED OUR MENTAL HEALTH. WHAT ABOUT THE KIDS ABOUT THE PRIVILEGES MY FAMILY HAS? IT'S HEARTBREAKING.

ADVOCATING FOR MY FAMILY'S AND ALL FAMILIES.

MY SIXTH-GRADER TOLD ME A WEEK AGO IF HE COULD HAVE ANY WISH SHE WOULD EXPLICITLY NOT WISH FOR $1 MILLION, INSTEAD HIS BIG WISH THAT HE COULD GO BACK TO SCHOOL PROGRAM WE CAN PUT OUR BOYS IN A PRIVATE IN PERSON SCHOOL, BUT WE HAVE LOVED OUR LIKE WASHINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT EXPERIENCE.

WE TRUSTED THE DISTRICT WAS WORKING TOWARD AN IN-PERSON PLAN. IN JANUARY WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WERE GOING BACK IN SOME FORM IN MARCH.

MY FAMILY WAS THRILLED. THE DETAILS WERE TBD AND I THOUGHT THAT MEANT TO BE DETERMINED, NOT TO BE DITCHED.

WHEN THE SECONDARY PATHWAY FORD WAS FINALLY ANNOUNCED, THERE WAS NO PATHWAY, THERE WAS NO PROGRESS FORWARD AND THERE WAS NO TRANSPARENCY. YOU NEED TO SHOW YOUR WORK.

SO I DON'T SEE WHAT ELSE THEY DO AT HOME.

WHEN I RETURN I ASKED THEM HOW THEIR CLASSES WERE, THE RESPONSE I GET IS BORING. THEY MIGHT SEE ONE OTHER KID DURING THE DAY. MOST LIKELY NOT.

DAY IN, DAY OUT THIS IS THEIR SCHOOL DAY, THEIR LIFE, FIVE DAYS A WEEK. MY YOUNGEST SON IS IN A 504 PLAN AT SCHOOL. HE IS STRUGGLING ACADEMICALLY.

HE NOW HAS 10 ASSIGNMENTS, PROBABLY COUNTING MORE, NOT TURNED IN. AND I CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH TO HELP THEM. MY OLDER SON IS BECOME A RECLUSE. HE PREFERS TO JUST STAY INSIDE.

BOARD MEMBERS, DOCTOR HOLMAN, PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND AS YOU CONTINUE TO KEEP SCHOOLS CLOSED.

WE HAVE SEEN THIS EVEN IN THE FACE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH DECISION TREE, THE GUIDANCE PROVIDED IN AUGUST AND UPDATED IN DECEMBER. AN IMPORTANT TOOL FOR ALL OF US TO REFERENCE IS THE WEEKLY DATA TRACKING TOOL.

AND SO MANY OF US HAVE ACCESS TO THAT, I BELIEVE I SHARED THAT WITH THE BOARD BUT ALSO WITH THE COMMUNITY.

WE CAN TRULY SEE ONE OF THE DIFFERENT LEARNING MODELS BEING IMPLEMENTED ACROSS THE STATE AND ACROSS TO OUR REGION.

KNOWING THE GUIDANCE THAT WE RECEIVE AS A SCHOOL DISTRICT TRULY IS FROM OUR KING COUNTY HEALTH PARTNERS .

THOSE OF THE DISTRICTS I SPENT SOME TIME LOOKING AT TODAY TO UNDERSTAND TRULY WHAT IS THE PROVISION OF SERVICES THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING OFFERED REALLY WITHIN OUR REGION WITH THE DISTRICTS RECEIVING THE SAME GUIDANCES.

RIGHT NOW THE MAJORITY OF DISTRICTS IN KING COUNTY ARE TRULY MOVING FORWARD WITH A PLAN TO IMPLEMENT IN PERSON LEARNING SERVICES FOR ELEMENTARY LEARNERS.

THAT IS TRUE FOR THE MAJORITY OF DISTRICTS, BUT THAT'S NOT TRUE FOR EVERY DISTRICT IN OUR REGION.

THAT IS THE DATA AVAILABLE. I ALSO KNOW THAT CURRENTLY WE HAVE ANOTHER A DISTRICTS PLANNING FOR THE PROVISION FOR A SECONDARY SERVICES WITHIN THEIR DISTRICT.

BUT AT THIS TIME WITHIN OUR REGION AND WITHIN OUR COUNTY.

WHEN I SAY WITHIN OUR COUNTY, THE ONLY DISTRICT THAT HAS A PROVISION OF SECONDARY SERVICES IS ENUMCLAW SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR SECONDARY. AND SO ANOTHER IS A SMALLER SCHOOL DISTRICT WITHIN OUR REGION THAT HAS DATES AND PLANS TO BRING SECONDARY STUDENTS BACK TO READ BUT I ALSO KNOW THAT OTHER DISTRICTS ARE DISCUSSING IT WITHOUT SPECIFIC TIMELINES IN PLACE YET. IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT TO NOTE THERE ARE DISTRICTS THAT HAVE NOT WELCOMED ANY STUDENTS BACK ONTO CAMPUS YET. AND SO THERE ARE SOME JUST TO THE SOUTH OF US AND THERE IS ONE JUST TO THE WEST OF US.

AND THAT WE HAD DONE TRAINING WITH THEM TO BE ABLE TO SERVE SOME OF OUR STUDENTS RIGHT AWAY. AT THAT TIME FOR MOST OF THE STUDENTS WE WERE IN OUT REMOTE LEARNING MODEL GUIDANCE WE RECEIVED FROM PUBLIC HEALTH OVER THE SUMMER HAD CAUSED US TO SHIFT TO REMOTE LEARNING MODEL.

BUT AGAIN, THEY ARE IN PERSON, THEY ARE ON CAMPUS, THEY ARE WITH TEACHERS WOULD WE START TO SAY OKAY, WE HAVE TO TRANSPORT THEM. WE BOUGHT A BUS DRIVER SHORTAGE FOR MANY YEARS.
