UNDER RECENT UPDATES TO THE GUIDELINES FOR ATTENDING PUBLIC MEETINGS ITS PROCLAMATION 20 -- 2815 AND PUBLIC RECORDS ACT PROCLAMATIONS. THE EXTENSION ON THE -- I AM SORRY THERE'S BEEN EXTENSION ON IN PERSON MEETINGS WHERE THERE'S AN EXEMPTION FOR PUBLIC MEETINGS THAT COMPLY WITH THE GUIDELINES FOR BUSINESS MEETINGS AND FOUND IN THE MISCELLANEOUS VENUES AND GUIDANCE.

THAT GUIDANCE STATES THAT AT JUNE 30, 2021, PUBLIC BODIES AND PUBLIC AGENCIES MAY HOST IN PERSON PUBLIC MEETINGS PROVIDED THAT THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS ON CAPACITY NO PHYSICAL DISTANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR IT MEETINGS CAN BE HELD ONLY IF CURRENT BASE COVERED REQUIREMENTS AND OUTLINED IN PROCLAMATION CAN BE MAINTAINED.

THE BOARD DEVALUES PUBLIC PARTICIPATION AND ENGAGEMENT IN THE MEETINGS OF THE BOARD. AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO COMPLY WITH LAWS RELATED TO THE OPEN PUBLIC MEETINGS ACT IN CURRENT EMERGENCY PROCLAMATIONS. AND GUIDANCE.

IF MISCELLANEOUS VENUES GUIDANCE AND ALL OTHER REQUIREMENTS RELATED TO COVID-19 CANNOT BE MET, THE SCHOOL BOARD MUST HOLD ITS MEETINGS ARE BROADLY AND PROVIDE ACCESS VIA LIVE STREAM AND AUDIO.

DUE TO RECENT NONCOMPLIANCE AT SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS, THE BOARD HAS DETERMINED TO HOLD OUR MEETINGS REMOTELY.

I DO FIND IT DISHEARTENING THERE IS NONCOMPLIANCE AND THAT WAS THE REASON FOR WHICH THE MEETINGS HAVE TO BE HELD REMOTELY. THIS IS A GREAT CONCERN TO ME BECAUSE WHAT IT TELLS ME IS THERE ARE AT LEAST A FEW PARENTS THAT MIGHT NOT BE COMPLIANT WITH THE MASK WEARING INDOORS OUTSIDE OF SCHOOLS.

AND OF COURSE WE LIVE IN A COMMUNITY WHERE EVERYONE IS FREE TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT SPRAYED DURING A GLOBAL PANDEMIC WITH ALL IMPACT EACH OTHER, RIGHT? OUR KIDS ARE GOING TO THE SAME CLASSROOM, PLEASE EXCUSE THE BACKGROUND NOISE. OUR KIDS ARE GOING TO THE SAME CLASSROOMS ARE BEING TAUGHT BY WONDERFUL TEACHERS BUT I REALLY APPRECIATE THE MASK WEARING REQUIREMENT THAT IS BEING DONE AND THEY ARE DOING WONDERFULLY.

THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE THAT HAS BEEN A CONCERN TO ME, SOME SCHOOLS INITIALLY SAID THEY WOULD BE OUTDOOR DINING AND THEN THEY SWITCH IT TO IN THE CLASSROOM AND THEN THE CAFETERIA. I UNDERSTAND THE LOGISTICS BEHIND THAT. IT IS DIFFICULT TO COORDINATE A LOT OF CHILDREN, ESPECIALLY YOUNGER ONES.

EATING OUTDOORS ENOUGH MANPOWER TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE SAFE AND WELL ATTENDED TO. AT THE SAME TIME HOWEVER, GIVEN THE PANDEMIC, THE RISE IN THE DELTA SURGEON GIVEN THE FACT OUR CHILDREN UNDER 12 ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO BE VACCINATED EVEN IF THEY WANTED THEM TO BE.

AND IT IS ONLY GOING TO -- WE ARE GOING TO NEED TO BE INDOORS WHEN IT IS COLD AND RAINY.

I FIND IT VERY CONCERNING IT IS SOMETHING THAT WE HAVE ALREADY HAD SEVERAL SCHOOLS YOU'VE HAD CASES AND HAD TO SHUT DOWN A COUPLE OF CLASSROOMS AGAIN I REALLY APPRECIATE HOW PROACTIVE THE SCHOOLS ARE BEING.

BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST IS TO SEE IF WE CAN FIGURE OUT A WAY TO HAVE EVERYBODY OR AT LEAST THE PARENTS OF STUDENTS, STUDENTS OF THE PARENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED AND FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT THIS TO DINE OUTDOORS.

IF THERE IS NOT THE MANPOWER FOR THIS I WOULD SUGGEST TO RECRUIT SOME PARENTS WHO POSSIBLY HAVE THE TIME OR CURRENTLY FULL-TIME PARENTS WHO CAN COMMIT TO COMING, YOU COULD DO BACKGROUND CHECKS YOU REQUIRE VACCINATION AND MASKING. I SPOKE WITH SEVERAL PARENTS WHO SAID THEY WOULD BE INTERESTED IF THIS IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE COORDINATED.

I REALLY HONESTLY AND CAN EXTREMELY CONCERNED FOR THEIR BEEN TONS OF RESEARCH FROM FULL-TIME MOM I'M SURE WE'VE ALREADY READ THE RESEARCH AS WELL PROBABLY MORE THAN I HAVE. INDOOR DINING ON VACCINATED INDIVIDUALS INCLUDING INDIVIDUALS IS PROBLEMATIC EVEN WITH EIGHT SYMPTOMATIC CARRIERS CAN CAUSE A VERY RAPID TRANSMISSION EVEN IF YOU'RE AT THE OTHER END OF THE

I AM HERE TONIGHT TO ASK YOU TO EXERCISE INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT, SEPARATE YOURSELVES AS ACTUAL LEADERS IN THE COMMUNITY BY REJECTING THE HARMFUL REQUIREMENT TO MASK OUR CHILDREN AND TEACHERS. OUR FAMILIES, SPECIFICALLY INDIVIDUALS, ALLOW FAMILY SPECIFICALLY INDIVIDUALS THE FREEDOM TO CHOOSE TO MASK THEIR CHILD OR NOT.

MASKS ARE PROVING TO HAVE SEVERE NEGATIVE IMPACT ON CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT AND CHILDHOOD EDUCATION.

SO I HAVE TO ASK YOU ARE YOU INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO NEGATIVELY IMPACT OUR STUDENT'S MENTAL HEALTH? I AM WONDERING HOW DEEPLY HAVE CONSIDERED THE IMPACT OF MASKING TEACHERS ON THE EDUCATION BEING DELIVERED TO THE STUDENTS. IS IT THE EXPECTATION OF THE BOARD THAT STUDENTS CAN HEAR EXACTLY THE SAME WHEN THE SPEAKER'S MOUTH IS OBSTRUCTED? INTENTIONALLY LIMITING THE AUDIBLE SPEECH AND COMMUNICATION IS AND WILL CONTINUE TO NEGATIVELY IMPACT CHILDREN.

SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN ARE AT A CRITICAL JUNCTURE FOR SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING. FACIAL EXPRESSIONS OR LOSS ON A CLOTH MASK. NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION IS HAMPERED IN THE PURE DISCOMFORT OF THE MASK WILL BE LEARNING DISTRACTED BY THE PSYCHOLOGICAL HARM OF WIDESPREAD MASKING SHOULD BE A GREATER CONCERN TO US AS PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS THAN COVID CASES.

THE FIRST ONE IS, ONE OF THE FIRST WITH THE LATEST VERSION THERE IS A STATEMENT SAYING WE ARE AND I QUOTE, COMMITTED TO RAISING OPPORTUNITIES REGARDLESS OF RACE, ABILITY, LANGUAGE, CULTURE, ETHNICITY, GENDER IDENTITY, SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND OTHER ASPECTS OF STUDENT IDENTITY. MY WIFE AND I RESIDENT VERY WELL WITH THAT STATEMENT TO BE FULLY GET BEHIND THIS.

THE PROBLEM WE HAVE IS, UNDER THE DIRECTIVE TO THE SUPERINTENDED, THERE IS THE FIRST POINT STATE WHICH I QUOTE, ELIMINATE RACIST SYSTEMS, STRUCTURES AND PRACTICE, REPLACING THEM WITH ALL ANTIRACIST AND PRACTICE.

IN ADDITION IN THE SECONDARY SCHOOLS THEY HAVE AN ADVISORY PROGRAM THAT HELPS THEM CONNECT WITH EVERY STUDENT AND MAKE SURE THEY'RE TAKING CARE OF THEIR SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING. IT CHANGE FORMS A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH THE RISE OF THE DELTA VARIANT AND THE LACK OF A VACCINE FOR STUDENTS UNDER 12 THERE IS A LAST-MINUTE SURGE OF INTEREST IN A REMOTE SCHOOL OPTION. PARTICULARLY THROUGH K -- FIVE STUDENTS, K -- SIX STUDENTS BUT WE HAVE K-12 ENROLLED.

IT IS BEEN REALLY FASCINATING TO AN ONLINE TEACHING OPTION FOR SOME OF OUR TEACHERS. QUITE A FEW TEACHERS WITH HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES OF THEIR OWN WERE ABLE TO BE PLACED IN THE ONLINE SCHOOLS BUT WE WERE THRILLED TO BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE THAT. AND THIS FALL WAS THE FIRST TIME STUDENTS GOT TO ENJOY THE COMPLETE PROJECT READ THAT WAS ONE OF THE VISITS I HAD ON MY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL WAS TO SEE STUDENTS FINALLY ABLE TO ENJOY THAT BUILDING.

LAKE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL, AND THE FALL OF 2020 THERE'S WORK ON THE NEW ACADEMIC WING AND COMMONS EXPANSION FOR THE ACADEMIC WING INCLUDES 20 CLASSROOMS. THE COMMONS EXPANSION INCREASE STUDENT CAPACITY BY ABOUT 160 STUDENTS. THIS FALL THE NEW AUXILIARY GYM OPENED. THE 21/22 SCHOOL YEARS THE FIRST TIME THEY'VE ENJOYED THE NEW SCHOOL SPACES AS WELL.

LAST YEAR THEY START A CLASSROOM ADDITION AND CORE EXPANSION PROJECT OF THREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS THAT CONTINUES THIS YEAR AT FRANKLIN, ROSE HILL AND AT THE ELEMENTARIES. CARSON ELEMENTARY THE CORE EXPANSION PROJECT BEGINNING IN SUMMER 2022.

SO AGAIN CELEBRATION OF THE PROJECT THANKS FOR THEIR SUPPORT THE 2021 SCHOOL YEAR IS OFF TO A GREAT START ARE 77 STAR, STAFF AND FAMILIES WILL CONTINUE TO WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE THIS A SUCCESSFUL ONE FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS.

OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS BROUGHT 46 TO 49 PERCENT OF STUDENTS FROM LOW INCOME HOUSEHOLDS ARE SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS BROUGHT 74 TO 79 PERCENT OF MALE STUDENT PROFICIENCY AND ARE SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS BROUGHT 83 TO 85 PERCENT OF FEMALES BY THE END OF THIRD GRADE.

SIMILAR PERSISTENT GAPS EXIST AT THE KEY BENCHMARKS 5TH TO 8TH GRADE ELA, ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS AND MATH SBA ACHIEVEMENT DATA AND ARE ECHOED IN THE ASSESSMENT AND ECHO THROUGH OTHER GRADE LEVELS SUBJECTS AND METRICS. THIS BOARD EXPECTS OUR SCHOOLS TO BE SAFE AND INCLUSIVE FOR EACH STUDENT THERE ARE EXPERIENCES THAT ARE UNACCEPTABLE AND DEMONSTRATING THE FORMAL REPORT FOR THE DISTRICT IN 2017 AND IN THE REPORT LWSD STUDENTS REPORT ALL INTERVIEWED STUDENTS TALKED ABOUT THE PREVALENCE OF STEREOTYPING AND HOSTILE RACIAL COMMENTS THEY EXPERIENCED. SOME STUDENTS SAID THIS TYPE OF HARASSMENT WAS COMMITTED BY FRIENDS WHO WERE JUST JOKING AND DIDN'T MEAN ANYTHING BY IT.

OTHER STUDENTS MENTIONED THE CLIMATES AND THE WAKE OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN WHICH CLASSMATES TOLD THEM TO GO BACK TO MEXICO ARE MADE COMMENTS ABOUT THEIR PARENTS BEING GARDENERS OR HOUSEKEEPERS AND MUSLIM STUDENTS WERE NOT TREATED WELL IN SEVERAL MENTIONED LESBIAN, GAY, TRANSSEXUAL QUESTIONING, SWORD TEASING AND OBSERVATIONS VARIED AND SOME STUDENTS REPORTED THAT STUDENTS WERE RESPONSIVE AND INTERVENING THAT MANY SO THE TEACHERS ARE THE COMMENTS AND DID NOTHING.
