AND LOOK AT THE PROGRAMS. YOU WANT TOMAKE SURE THE PROGRAMS ARE MEETING THOSE NEEDS.OU LOOK AT CURRICULUM . WE HAVE FRAMEWORKS FOR EVERY SINGLE CLASS THAT IS TEACH. THOSE NEED TO BE APPROVED BY OS PI. IN THOSE FRAMEWORKS, THEY TALK ABOUT INDUSTRY SKILLS, THEY TALK ABOUT 21ST-CENTURY SKILLS, ACADEMIC SKILLS. AND THEN, ALSO, ALL OF THE UNITS WITHIN THOSE. INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED CERTIFICATIONS, THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE ARE REALLY LOOKING TOWARDS IN MAKING SURE STUDENTS HAVE THOSE OPPORTUNITIES. SO WE ACTUALLY HAVE ADOBE CERTIFICATIONS, MICROSOFT OFFICE, CAD, THOSE KINDS OF THINGS. THEN THE SLIDE TO THE LEFT, AGAIN, SHOWS -- BREAKS IT DOWN BY MIDDLE SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL AND WINICK. WHEN WE STARTED LOOKING AT THIS, WE FOUND THERE WAS AN APPLIED PHOTOGRAPHY AT ONE SCHOOL.

AND PHOTOGRAPHY AT ANOTHER SCHOOL.

THEY REGISTERED AS TWO SEPARATE CLASSES WHEN THEY WERE REALLY THE SAME CLASS. WE ACTUALLY OFFER REALLY NOTHING (INDISCERNIBLE) FOR STUDENTS.

JUST HAVE MORE ALIGNMENT WITH (INDISCERNIBLE).

ANOTHER PART OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN WAS TO INCREASE DUAL CREDIT OFFERINGS (INDISCERNIBLE).

SO IN CTE, WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO HAVE -- IT USED TO BE CALLED (INDISCERNIBLE) NOW IT'S CTE DUAL CREDIT.

WE WORK WITH THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST CREDIT CONSORTIUM.

THAT PROVIDES -- THAT WORKS WITH 14 DIFFERENT DISTRICTS AND FIVE COLLEGES. IT ALLOWS US TO GRANT COLLEGE CREDIT FOR CLASSES THAT WE OFFER.

SO THE PROCESS IS THAT WE WOULD USE OUR FRAMEWORKS AND GIVE THEM TO THE CONSORTIUM. THEY WOULD WORK WITH THE COLLEGE TO SAY THAT YES, IT ALIGNS TO BUSINESS 101 (INDISCERNIBLE). THEN WE WOULD GET CREDIT FOR THAT. WE HAVE 54 CLASSES THAT HAVE ARTICULATIONS.WE ALSO HAVE QUITE A FEW AP CLASSES.

RIGHT NOW, WE HAVE 30 SECTIONS OF AP CLASSES IN OUR OFFERINGS.

WE LIKE TO TELL OUR STUDENTS THAT YOU DON'T JUST STOP LEARNING BECAUSE YOU STOPPED HIGH SCHOOL.

THEYTALKED ABOUT , AND THE FIRE PROGRAM, BEING ABLE TO GO TO THE BELLEVUE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND SPEND THEIR TIME TRAINING THERE. THEY TALKED ABOUT THE ADVANCED SKILLS ARE GETTING. THE FACT THAT THEIR TEACHERS ARE COMING STRAIGHT FROM INDUSTRY.

AND THEY KNOW THAT THOSE TEACHERS HAVE RELEVANT EXPERIENCE BECAUSE THEY ARE STILL WORKING IN INDUSTRY.

SOMETIMES AS A SIDE JOB, BUT ALSO IN THE CASE OF OUR FIRE DEPARTMENT, THEY ARE ALL ACTIVE FIREFIGHTERS WORKING THERE 24 AND 48 HOUR SHIFTS AND THEY ARE COMING TO WANIC.

THEY TALKED ABOUT THEIR PATHWAYS BEYOND WANIC.

ONE YOUNG WOMAN TALKED ABOUT HOW SHE OBSESSED ABOUT WANTING TO BECOME A NURSE. SHE FOUND WANIC JUST BY LOOKING IT UP. AND SHE OBSESSED ABOUT COMING TO WANIC. SHE WANTS TO BECOME A PEDIATRIC NURSE. SHE WANTS TO GO TO THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON. SHE HAS A PATHWAY, A PLAN, A PASSION, AND PURPOSE. YOU KNOW, OBVIOUSLY, I'M VERY PROUD OF WHAT WE OFFER TO OUR STUDENTS.

THE OTHER PIECE THAT ONE OF THE YOUNG MEN TALKED ABOUT WAS BEING ABLE TO MEET STUDENTS FROM SEVEN OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND THE FRIENDSHIPS THEY HAVE DEVELOPED AMONGST THEIR PEERS. SO THAT WAS PRETTY EXCITING TO BE ABLE TO SEE STUDENTS MAKING IT TO GUITAR FROM DAY ONE UNTIL DAY 13.

IF THEY HAD AN ELECTRIC GUITAR THAT WAS A WORKING INSTRUMENT, THEY MANUFACTURE IT AND LEARN HOW TO PLAY IT, TOO.

OFTENTIMES, A KID WHO COMES IN AND DOES DIGIPEN ART AND ANIMATION, THEY COULD BE PARTICULAR CHALLENGED BECAUSE IT IS RIGOROUS, AND THEY ARE GOING SEQUENTIALLY AND THEY HAVE TO HAVE THAT SCAFFOLDING BEHIND THEM.ONE OF THE THINGS BARB CREATED THIS YEAR THAT I'M COMPLETELY AMAZED BY HIS NOTEBOOK, SO THE TEACHERS IN OUR SYSTEM, BECAUSE WE ARE SO SPREAD OUT, CAN CONVERSE WITH HER BACK AND FORTHAND SHE CAN SHARE THAT INFORMATION WITH THE CASE MANAGERS .
